Kigali Lives! The Latest in Alternative Refrigerants

A discussion about real-world experience using natural refrigerants in industrial refrigeration and process cooling applications. One looks at optimizing existing refrigeration plants to improve performance, reduce operating costs, and to benefit the customer and the utility. The second looks at two new approaches for packaged systems, one for walk-in freezers, and one for process cooling using advanced ultra-low GWP refrigerants.

High Expectations: Capturing Savings in the Energy-Intensive Cannabis Sector

Requests for New Service from cannabis growers are expected to total hundreds of MW over the next few years. The cultivators are moving into buildings that often used less than 1 watt/sf and are requiring 30-60 watt/sf, requiring expensive infrastructure upgrades. SMUD has been working with growers to reduce energy use and will discuss their testing of high efficiency lighting, HVAC, and dehumidification systems.
