Project Number SCG Organization SoCalGas End-use Other Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2009 - 2009
Description

Project Summary

The Whole House Performance Pilot Project was conducted to generate data and evaluate a representative sample of 25 existing homes in various climate zones in Southern California. Enhanced energy audits and diagnostics testing using state-of-the art equipment were undertaken to investigate energy efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality, and combustion safety issues for the selected test homes.  A customized Energy Star Package, comprising of a package of energy efficiency measures, was recommended for each test home.  Computer simulation modeling for the test homes was undertaken using residential building performance software “Treat” to conduct energy efficiency calculations, energy savings, annual electricity savings, annual total energy savings, carbon footprint reduction, projected energy cost savings over the next 20 years, savings-to-investment ratio, and payback period.
