Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Super Lamp Initiative

Project Number PGE 0703 Organization PG&E Sector Other Project Year(s) 2007 - 2009
Description

The California IOUs and SMUD (California Utilities) are pleased to announce their release of the “Super Lamp” Specification.  This is a joint effort with California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and was designed around the comments received by many manufacturers in interviews conducted in late 2008. This specification is also subject to change based on new technical information.

In 2010, the California Utilities will be moving their lighting programs in a direction that increases the promotion of specialty lamps (A lamps, Reflector lamps and Globes) as well as opportunities for lamps meeting the attached Super Lamp specification.   The California Utilities are open to accept Super Lamp product submittals at this time for 2010 programs.  Please include the attached product submittal form when submitting your product entries. In addition, please notify Richard Greenburg at Southern California Edison by e-mail (
richard.greenburg@sce.com) of all submittals.

If you have prototypes of the new “Super Lamp” ready for our review, please send products to:

Luis Lomelino Fernandes, Ph. D., Research Engineer
California Lighting Technology Center
University of California, Davis
633 Pena Dr.
Davis, CA 95618

The California Utilities are anticipating continued alliances with the manufacturers in meeting our customers’ energy efficiency lighting needs.  We also look forward to working together toward continued success in promoting current, and next-generation energy-efficient lighting options.
