Steam Table Technology Assessment and Gas Energy Savings Demonstration

Project Number ET18SDG1041 Organization SDG&E End-use Process Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2018 - 2020
Description

Frontier Energy conducted an Emerging Technology project to characterize the energy savings potential associated with gas-fired steam tables. The study included field monitoring of baseline and replacement steam tables in three representative restaurant test sites in the SoCalGas territory, laboratory testing of three different dry-well steam table models (that were then used as the field replacement tables), and a market survey to characterize the overall market potential for this product category. The representative test sites were selected based on market survey results such that the test sites were of common size and type, with the common steam table size and count. The replacement models were selected from the top three gas steam table manufacturers. The results of this study can be used to establish the savings opportunity associated with full adoption of energy-efficient steam table designs.
