Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Space Heat Recovery from Refrigeration

Project Number ET12PGE1391 Organization PG&E End-use Process Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2012 - 2015
Description

PG&E worked with a retail grocery store chain to study heat recovery in a new supermarket in Santa Clara County, California.  Energy analysis and field monitoring were conducted to better understand the natural gas savings and consequent electric energy penalty associated with a heat recovery system using the heat from the market’s refrigeration systems to heat the sales area.  PG&E assisted the Customer and its controls and equipment vendors during the design and construction phase of the new supermarket to evaluate multiple design options, configure the recovery system, size and select the heat exchanger and holdback valves, and prepare control sequences of operation for the heat recovery controls.

Attached are both an interim report, provided to PG&E by the consultant, VaCom Technologies, in October 2014, and also the Final Report.
