Multi-Family Residential Variable Speed Swimming Pool/Spa Pump Retrofit

Project Number ET11SDGE0017 Organization SDG&E Sector Commercial, Residential Project Year(s) 2011 - 2012
Description

Project Summary

The goal of the project was to determine the energy savings potential provided by using VFD packaged pool pump/filter/motor assembly, as compared to the conventional  single speed or two speed oversized and over run swimming pools and spas in the commercial facilities, such as apartments.

This demonstration project validated that properly designed and programmed VFD circulating pumps can save motor energy consumption up to 2/3, without significantly compromising the health and sanitary code standards.
