Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Microchannel Condenser in a Milking Dairy Application

Project Number ET13PGE1411 Organization PG&E End-use Process Sector Commercial, Agricultural Project Year(s) 2013 - 2015
Description

This assessment consisted of a side-by-side comparison of two otherwise nearly-identical milk chillers; one with a finned-tube air-cooled condenser with fan cycling on pressure switches, and the other system with a microchannel air-cooled condenser. The project incrementally assessed the impact of the microchannel condenser on system performance with the same control strategy as the replaced condenser, and then with floating head pressure and variable-setpoint (e.g. drybulb-following) control.
