Laboratory Evaluation of Small Wall-Mounted Heat Pump Water Heaters

Project Number ET19SCE1080 Organization SCE End-use Water Heating/DHW/HPWH Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2019 - 2023
Description
The objective of this project is to evaluate the performance in the laboratory of two small wall-mounted Heat Pump Water Heaters from Europe and their ability to provide hot water in a more efficient manner and with lower total emissions. The HPWHs are commercially available in Europe, however, these units have not yet been tested by U.S. test standards to determine the uniform energy factor (UEF) or first hour rating (FHR). Prior to selling these units in the U.S., these units will have to be converted to 60 Hz , tested to slightly higher water test pressure than in Europe. UL certification will also be required.
