Impact of Independent Living/Bedroom Thermostat Settings in Residential VRF Systems

Project Number ET06SCE1021 Organization SCE End-use HVAC Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2006 - 2010
Description
Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning is a popular method of heating and cooling in many countries. Though the product has been on the market for over 20 years, only recently was it introduced to the United States market. Because of its perceived energy efficiency (EE), there is growing interest in this system by building owners, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) engineers, electric utilities, and code organizations. This project is a supplement to an earlier study that developed and implemented VRF algorithms into the eQUEST building energy simulation program.
