IBM Mobile Measurement Technology

Project Number ET08SCE1030 Organization SCE End-use Other Sector Other Project Year(s) 2008 - 2010
Description

Project Summary

The IBM Mobile Measurement Technology report assesses a technology developed by IBM, the Mobile Measurement Technology (MMT) for data centers, aimed at producing energy savings on the cooling side. A roughly 30,000 square foot data center in Torrance, California, with under-floor air distribution was the test site. The IBM MMT provided an assessment of the data centers’ operations. Recommendations for improvements led to field monitoring to quantify recommendation impacts, and provide enough data to perform building energy simulations. This report provides details on the technology, as well as the findings from Phase 1.
