Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Hybrid Ventilation Fan

Project Number ET18SCE1040 Organization SCE End-use HVAC Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2018 - 2021
Description
Compare this hybrid exhaust fan airflow and power consumption to other products in the exhaust fan category. A test apparatus will be built to test powered exhaust fans delivering required airflow and static. The fan will also be installed in the field to determine a "real world" performance and application of the hybrid fan. A test apparatus will be built to test powered exhaust fans delivering.
Project Results
Rooftop turbine exhaust fan employing Electrically Commutated Motor (ECM). Baseline is a Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motor. Applications are for low static pressure (less than 1/4" water column). Fan is also driven by wind power, but energy savings from this mode was not credited to measure.
