Grid Responsive Heat Pump Water Heater (WH) Study

Project Number ET19SCE1100 Organization SCE End-use Water Heating/DHW/HPWH Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2019 - 2024
Description
As part of SJV Pilot, SCE included a study to deploy HPWHs equipped with communication technology that will allow the water heater to be used as a grid-responsive heating technology element of the pilot to electrify homes and reduce emissions within the SJV. SCE hopes to gain insight into how aggregated distributed resources can be used to benefit the grid and simultaneously offer residents the ability to manage energy consumption through time-of-use (TOU) management of their energy consumption. This study will only be conducted in 12 residential single-family dwellings of customers participating in the SJV Pilots.
