Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Field Demonstration of a Sub-Wet-Bulb Evaporative Chiller

Project Number ET16PGE1001 Organization PG&E End-use HVAC Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2016 - 2017
Description

The objective of this assessment was to conduct a field test to evaluate the performance of a sub-wet bulb evaporative chiller (SWEC) and to characterize the performance over the range of operating conditions experienced. The cooling capacity, power draw, system efficiency, total energy consumption, and water consumption were evaluated. The analysis provides insight into the potential for the SWEC to replace traditional compressor based systems, including the potential for peak demand reduction and total energy savings.
