EPRI EB III B - Refrigeration Systems using Advanced Refrigerants

Project Number DR13.07 Organization SCE End-use Process Loads Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2014 - 2016
Description
This sub-project will explore and document advances in product development for advanced refrigerants in refrigeration systems with the goal of identifying products for laboratory evaluation and field deployment. Advanced product development engineering, primarily built on the foundations of capacity variation and integrated controls, is creating ever-more flexibility. As just one example, advanced ammonia refrigeration may be viable in smaller refrigeration systems. These advanced refrigeration systems may offer superior DR capabilities than systems using traditional refrigerants. The sub-project will investigate the DR opportunities and collect data on simulated DR events.
