Energy Managment Circuit Breaker (EMCB) - EPRI

Project Number DR17.04 Organization SCE End-use Plug Loads and Appliances Sector Industrial Project Year(s) 2016 - 2019
Description
Various utilities from around the country are evaluating systems for energy management that are low-cost, applicable to end-users, and useful to utilities and aggregators. This project is investigating an energy management circuit breaker (EMCB) with several additional features. The EMCB is a single-or-double pole, thermal-magnetic circuit breaker commonly installed in low-voltage panel boards to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by over current, overload or short circuit. The EMCB also has integrated metering, remote control of an on/off switch, and the ability to connect to a wireless local area network (WLAN) for communication.
