This project covers SCE involvement in the EPA’s specification development for “Connected” ENERGY STAR products, initiated by EPA to respond to the emerging Smart Grid and the need for compatible end-use products. By participating , SCE seeks to inform EPA on the technical abilities of smart meters and the implications of using various communication schemes; provide insight into how DR event definitions play into SCE’s vision of its DR strategy; share SCE’s test data on various DR-capable appliances and products; and comment on the DR verification test methods based on prior lab experience, as well as alignment with eventual DR program deployments.
