Dimmable Electronic Ballast California Market Assessment

Project Number DR 07.08 & CS 07.07 Organization SCE End-use Other Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2007 - 2008
Description

Project Sumary

This market assessment determines the state of the current market in California for dimmable electronic ballasts and the implementation of “smart ballasts”. The goal of the study is to characterize perceptions in the marketplace and the technology’s paucity in market penetration. The information gathered during this market assessment indicates there are significant barriers in place for dimmable electronic ballasts, but a combined effort on behalf of both the manufacturers and the utilities can successfully reduce these barriers resulting in a significant potential for a rich demand response resource.
