Conveyor Broilers for Foodservice Applications

Project Number ET12SCE1080 Organization SCE End-use Process Loads Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2012 - 2012
Description
Conveyor broilers are commercial food service appliances used in quick-service restaurants. Conveyor broilers apply heat to both the top and bottom of the food as it travels through the appliance on a steel conveyor belt. This project will validate savings claims for conveyor broilers at a major fast food chain restaurant.
Project Results
The Food Service Technology Center (FSTC), also known as Fisher-Nickel, Inc., administered by Pacific Gas and Electric, tested three different conveyor broiler designs for use in Carl’s Jr. Restaurant. In collaboration with FSTC, Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Design and Engineering Services (DES) organization and Foodservice Technology Center (FTC) evaluated the findings from FSTC’s report, “Carl’s Jr. Conveyor Broiler Testing & Evaluation.”
