Combined Space and Water Heating in Existing Homes

Project Number ET16PGE1981 Organization PG&E End-use Water Heating/DHW/HPWH, HVAC Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2016 - 2017
Description

CO2 refrigerant heat pumps will be installed and monitored, while providing combined space and water heating in existing homes. Two study sites will be located within PGE service territory, representing Northern California climate zones for the broader Pacific Northwest sample. Performance will be monitored, analyzed and reported. Outcomes include overall system efficiency, estimated space and water heating efficiencies, and benefit to cost ratio. This system design offers an efficient, affordable replacement for electric space and water heating with a low climate change profile.
