Project Info COMPLETE Project Title

Building Management System Demonstration

Project Number ET17SCE8040 Organization SCE End-use Whole Building Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2017 - 2020
Description
Manually controlling Demand of HVAC and other associated loads is labor and time intensive, involving the manual adjustment of several controls spread out of these facilities. Furthermore, participation in, “day ahead”, demand response programs provides challenges in this type of facility and incorporation of a DR enabled facility could improve adoption. Adding automation linking the BMS to the automated demand control system (EMS) via Direct Digital Control (DDC) will be an objective of this project.
Project Results
The goal of this report was to study the effects of providing an enhanced Building Automation System (BAS) to a new building. This enhanced system educates the building operators and visitors on the facility’s electricity, water, and gas usage, as well as its photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation. This user-friendly graphical information helps stakeholders make informed decisions regarding building operation.
