Project Number SCE24PC0002 Organization SCE End-use HVAC, Other, Water Heating/DHW/HPWH Sector Commercial, Residential Project Year(s) N/A - 2024
Description

This interim report, a product of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Codes and Standards Planning and Coordination Program’s Key Initiatives, evaluates market barriers and identifies solutions to achieve energy-efficient building electrification within its service territory. The primary objective is to develop and test a data-driven strategy for electrification, focusing on Los Angeles and Orange County. The report details the progress in creating the Building Inventory Geospatial (BIG) Database, which characterizes building inventory, identifies electrification barriers, and assesses the energy and cost implications of adopting energy efficiency and electrification measures. By providing valuable insights, this report aims to enhance SCE’s and stakeholder’s ability to formulate effective strategies for supporting and implementing energy-efficient building electrification codes and standards. The findings highlight the accuracy of data, assumptions, and methodologies used, offering a scalable model for future efforts. This report can inform utilities and agencies aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through equitable building electrification.
