Automated Demand Response Advanced Thermostat Demonstration

Project Number DRET13PGE1005 Organization PG&E End-use Whole Building Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2013 - 2016
Description

In 2013 PG&E engaged Honeywell Smart Grid Solutions (HSGS) to implement and administer a technology assessment project with Demand Response Emerging Markets & Technology funding.  The objective of the project was to test a variety of program features combined (e.g. emerging technology and market channel efficacy).  The project was formally named the “Commercial Advanced Thermostat Upgrade Program” (CATUP) during the implementation.

Although there was only one implementation ultimately, the assessment proved a successful qualification of an OpenADR 2.0b certified virtual end node product with an integrated PCT, DRAS server integration of technical requirements for virtual top node, contractor qualification, successful installation of the UDI/RCS systems, submission of contractor and customer incentive applications, successful ADR performance during a declared event and successful incentive payment processing.
