Project Number PGE 0401 Organization PG&E End-use HVAC Sector Residential Project Year(s) 2004 - 2004
Description

Project Summary

The first phase of an evaporative cooler technology evaluation project conducted 2003 tested the performance of advanced evaporative coolers (AECs) that used 8 inch thick rigid media. The results showed that advanced coolers are 68-70% more efficient than conventional coolers. However, the achieved evaporative effectiveness was lower than the expected .85 effectiveness. This project will determine in 12 inch thick rigid media can achieve a .85 or better evaporative effectiveness. For more information, please contact the sponsoring organization.
