Absorption Chiller Demonstration

Project Number ET16SDG1071 Organization SDG&E End-use HVAC Sector Commercial Project Year(s) 2016 - 2017
Description

The objective of this report is to calculate electric savings achieved by the fuel cell waste heat recovery absorber system installed at UCSD. The data collected from November 15th 2016 to September 11th 2017 from the fuel cell, absorber, and electric chillers were used. The data was then used to analyze their operations, energy production, and consumptions over the monitoring period. The feasibility study performed before the installation of the absorber indicated that the chiller would have saved the campus approximately 1.4 million kWh per year.
