This event is by invitation-only and will focus on companies partnering with FLoW.
The Format: First, presentations will be given on the following potential topics: legislative environment in California; the Emerging Technology Coordinating Council and member utilities including Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Gas and San Diego Gas & Electric; Sacramento Municipal Utility District; Technology Priorities; and How to work with the ETCC. Then, companies will meet in private sessions with utility staff to present their business ideas and get feedback on market and technical needs and strategies.
What is FLoW: First Look West (FLoW) is the Western Region of the DOE’s $2 million National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition. Led by Caltech and overseen by a consortium of universities, FLoW offers students $150,000+ in prize money, legal help for incorporation and filing IP, as well as mentoring from over 100 technical, industry and financial experts. The program is now the largest of its kind in the Western US, with 80+ teams from 35+ universities and over a dozen states participating. Our judging panels include top cleantech investors such as Khosla Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, utilities including SCE, corporate venture partners such as Dow, Intel, Tesla, Solvay; Saudi Aramco, Siemens and Shell and legal specialists from companies such as Morrison & Foerster.
